Support for estate agents and property developers
When the rules apply
Mauritius’s anti-money-laundering rules apply to estate agents when they carry out certain transactions, such as property deals. The Financial Intelligence Unit is the supervisor. Act No. 3 of 2026 widens the real estate entry to include land promoters, property developers, and State or statutory-body employees who carry out a real estate transaction as part of their functions.
A deal can be frozen
If a transaction is suspended you hold it for up to 72 hours, answer questions within 24 hours and say nothing to the client.
Existing clients count
Every current client relationship needs due diligence, not only those that existed in August 2018.
Companies and trusts are checked harder
A buyer company or trust needs its real owners identified under the wider test.
How JasperX helps
We carry out the due diligence on your buyers and sellers, trace who owns and controls any company or trust, run the screening, and return a file with our recommendation. The decision stays with you.
