Support for jewellers
When the rules apply
A dealer in jewellery, precious stones or precious metals is covered when it engages in transactions totalling MUR 500,000 or more, including linked transactions. The Financial Intelligence Unit is the supervisor. Act No. 3 of 2026 is the smallest change for jewellers: the trigger and the supervisor stay as they were.
Suspension orders apply
A large sale the Unit considers suspicious can be suspended for up to 72 hours, with no tipping off.
Company buyers need more checking
The wider beneficial owner test applies when the buyer is a company.
Repeat customers
Where you have an ongoing relationship with a customer, due diligence applies to it whenever it began.
Information orders
A Judge can order customer information from a jeweller where it is material to an investigation.
How JasperX helps
We check who your buyer really is, trace the owners behind a company buyer, run the screening, and return a file with our recommendation before you complete a large sale. The decision stays with you.
