Frequently asked questions

Do the anti-money-laundering rules apply to me?
They apply to banks, licensed financial institutions such as management companies and insurers, and certain professions and businesses, including estate agents, accountants, jewellers and lawyers, when they carry out certain activities, such as property transactions or, for jewellers, transactions of MUR 500,000 or more. Try the quick check or ask us. It is a pointer, not legal advice.
What does JasperX do?
We carry out the background searches, screening and client due diligence your profession requires, and return a written file with our recommendation. We also help you assess your risks, plan your year of compliance work, review your controls independently and prepare for an inspection.
Does JasperX take over my legal responsibility?
No. The legal responsibility stays with you. JasperX provides independent advisory and support services. We do not give legal advice, act as an outsourced compliance officer or accept statutory appointments.
What will I receive?
A written summary of what we checked and found, the supporting records, and a recommendation in plain language. The decision is yours, and now you have a file behind it.
Is my clients’ information kept confidential?
Yes. We treat your enquiry and your clients’ details as confidential and use them only for the work you ask us to do.
How much does it cost?
Fees depend on the work involved. Get in touch and we will give you a quote.
How do I get started?
Book a call and tell us about the client in front of you. We will tell you what we would need to get started.
Who supervises my profession?
The Financial Intelligence Unit supervises estate agents, jewellers and lawyers. The Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants supervises accountants. Banks and financial institutions are supervised by the Bank of Mauritius, the Financial Services Commission or the Registrar of Co-operative Societies.
What is Act No. 3 of 2026?
It is the Anti-Money Laundering, Countering the Financing of Terrorism and Countering Proliferation Financing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2026, assented to on 17 April 2026. It deepens duties and gives regulators sharper powers. Read our short guide, and check when each provision takes effect.
Do you give legal advice?
No. For legal advice, please consult a Mauritius lawyer.
